*For my FB and inkyquillbysuzie.blogspot.com friends – I invite you to join us from wherever you are… You may write and share with us via my blog or encourage your own heart by bowing you’re fingers in this type of worship. I trust you will be blessed! I would love to hear if you expressed your devotion on pages this day!

King David wrote the Psalms with such intimacy. Countless volumes of devotions have been written in many forms and styles and lengths, their intention being to assist us as we walk a path toward Him. You are invited to bring your favorite devotions to share with one another. Writing a devotion is a worshipful expression of your love for the King of King’s and His ways. I’ve been so grateful for the devotions I’ve read and how they have motivated and inspired me to look up out of my doldrums!

Susan Kinney will be teaching our lesson for this meeting and we will be exploring classical and unique forms of devotions that may be written for private journals or public publication.

The prompt for this month is, “Write a devotion, any topic or style that you like!” We would love to hear what you have to share! And you may also read a five minute selection from your work in progress. We are a safe place to share and grow.
Warning you may end up loving to write!

Visit a local shop and bring your coffee or cappuccino with you.

Let us know if you’re attending, so we can save a seat just for you.

We look forward to seeing you there! May God bless you richly and always as you write for His glory!

Winner Come and See!!!!

Winner of Ruth Logan Herne’s novella,
Loving the Lawman

Aria Ray is assisting me as I cut the names of our contestants apart and put them in
the bowl. My daughter Vanessa is taking the photos for us and we are so grateful!

Aria hovers over the bowl, uncertain of what is expected of her. Will she pick the right name? Will she scoop up all eight names at once? We watch with bated breath.....

Her hand finally reaches for the paper in the bowl and pushes them around. My heart is just beating...who will the winner be?

Come on Aria...pick one!!! I can't hardly wait!!!!  Oh, she picked one, only one. Drum roll everyone.... who is the fortuante winner of Ruthy's book, Loving the Lawman?

The winner is......

Jill Stengl!! Congratulations Jill! Aria and I are happy for you and look forward to hearing what you think about Ruthy's novella! I will need to recieve your email, so that I can get it to Ruthy. Then she will mail out your novella. Whew!  After such excitement we decided to attend the Rodeo in De Pere, which after the noise and comotion started was far too much for our little lady! What an exciting day for our six month old girl. :)

Thank you Vanessa and Aria for your help in finding our winner! I'm sure Jill will be as thrilled as I was to win such a wonderful novella!

Writer’s Voice—Given to Him
By Susan Marlene Kinney

Yahweh Nissi (yah-WEH nis-SEE)

“The Lord is my Banner”

No one has authority over words like our Lord does. Satan doesn’t even come on the radar when you compare him to Yahweh Nissi. Yet whispers of gossip designed to malign character or criticism aimed to tear another down certainly do damage.

Extreme damage.

The power of life and death are in the tongue and I must suggest that is true of the pen also. Skilled writers cause us to visualize and feel the inspiration or the degradation they aimed to reveal to us.

God gives us talent, but not to horde for ourselves. His very nature expresses beauty and encouragement, truth and love to share. How many times have you read a devotion, or even a novel which made you think, ’This is just what I needed today!’ Thankfully, that writer was willing to push through all the requirements and challenges natural to the publishing world.

It may not be easy; there may be new skills to learn, but isn’t it worth taking the time and trouble to achieve publishing your words? There are aching hearts awaiting encouragement or direction they need for overcoming their life’s challenges.

The Song of Solomon 2:4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and His banner over me was love.

Banners, flags, plaques, poems in frames, even wedding rings have displayed powerful words pregnant with meaning and inspiration to move individuals or nations forward to accomplish or become. Don’t despise small beginnings. As children we worked on Legos until we built something impressive…let us build our word skills and allow our writer’s voice to flourish as we wait on Him for inspiration that can move a heart…or maybe a nation…

Let’s give our writer’s voice to Him and see what happens!
